SUBJECT: ARACI Activity Report

Dear All,

I deeply regret not being able to join you in person and share the pleasure of attending this General Assembly. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to see you all again at our next meeting.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an overview of the activities approved by our Board of Directors for this year, which, thanks to everyone’s commitment and dedication, we have successfully carried out and will continue to pursue until the end of the year.

In addition to the events already familiar to many of you who have participated in the Tours organised in Italy over the past few years, our programme began with a series of events held in the regions of Piemonte, Umbria, Sicilia, Emilia-Romagna and Basilicata.

We then decided to extend our activities beyond Italy and strengthen our ties with our friends in Albania. Some participants departed from the Port of Ancona, while others left from Bari, all arriving in Durrës before continuing their journey throughout the country .

During our journey, we had the pleasure of meeting several Rotary Clubs and many Rotarian friends throughout Albania. One of the most significant moments was our meeting with the Governor of Albania, Arben Dushi, accompanied by Secretary General Juna Tafai. On this occasion, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding and joined together in supporting “End Polio Now Rotary” initiative.

We received an especially warm and heartfelt welcome in the city of Gjirokastër, where we were honoured to be received by Mayor Flamur Golemi and the Italian Consul, Cav. Teodor Bilushi.

In June, the traditional “Car & Tennis” event returned to Veneto. This year’s edition was dedicated to Lancia, celebrating the 120th anniversary of the founding of the historic Turin-based manufacturer as well as its return to international rally competition.

This was followed in July by the “ARACI in Austria” Tour, made possible thanks to the enthusiasm and support of our friends from across the Alps, among whom awareness of our Association has continued to grow. During our stay, we met many passionate Rotarians who expressed their desire to share our enthusiasm for historic motoring and to become part of the wider ACHAFR Fellowship. We also had the pleasure of meeting representatives of Rotary District 1920 (Austria), represented by Governor Eckehard Bauer and headquartered in Hagenberg. This important occasion was marked by the signing of the Italy–Austria Memorandum of Understanding, further strengthening the relationship between our respective communities.

As we look ahead to the rest of the year, our programme will continue with events in Abruzzo, Calabria and Emilia. Once again, we will also be present with our own stand at the Historic Car Fair in Bologna, where we will host a conference focusing on insurance matters related to historic vehicles.

We very much look forward to welcoming all those who wish to join us and kindly invite our guests to book their discounted admission tickets in advance. It would also be a great pleasure to have you with us at our social dinner, which will take place at Hotel Sidney on the evening of Friday, 23 October. Advance booking for the dinner is required.

With the sincere hope of seeing you all again very soon, I send my warmest regards to each and every one of you.

Long live ACHAFR!

Alberto Cerracchio
